The Tri-County Women's Centre and the NSCC Social Services Program have teamed up to provide women with a Mental Health and Wellness Guide for Women. COVID-19 has created stress and concern for many across the Tri-Counties and abroad. People are having to worry about several things such as their own health, the health and safety of loved ones, work, school, and finances just to name a few. This can certainly create an anxious and stressful time for everyone.
We have to remember to still take care of our mental health and well-being and to remember how important it is for self-care. Below is a downloadable and printable resource guide to help you through this. Thank you again to the Social Services class of 2019 -2020 from NSCC Burridge Campus for collaborating with us to make this resource guide available.

The Algonquin have always had a Sacred relationship with the moose. They have been concerned about their declining number. They have set up blockades to prevent sport hunters from entering their traditional territory. This has caused black lashes and racist incidents but they continue to camp out on the land and protect the moose.
Like the Algonquin, the Mi'kmaq in the east never surrendered their land. It is unceded territory. A series of Peace and Friendship Treaties were signed with the British that enshrined the Mi'Kmaq right to fish and hunt and to sell their goods. This was confirmed 21 years ago through the Marshall decision. This video goes into the issues behind the current struggle with the lobster fisheries, conservation plans and inherent rights of the Mi'Kmaq from three Mi'Kmaq speakers.
